FAT VIKING 2020 - 25th of January 2020

IMPORTANT UPDATE 18.1.
Registration closes Wednesday night at 23.00.
No registration on race-day. SIGN UP before.
If you want to CHANGE YOUR RACE DISTANCE you must do this before Wednesday night too. Follow the link in the email you got from Racetracker and change online. Note: you must do this yourself online.

Weather forecast and tire recommendation:
We got more snow last night, and as it looks like we will get some mild temperatures in the lower regions next week.
Most of the track runs on packed snow (cc-skiing, dogsledding, scooter), and the snow base on the gravel roads should tolerate the mild weather. It doesn't look like we will freeze on race day!

If you have studded tires then bring them of course.
The course will hopefully stay ok for those without studs, too. Please don't panic. People ride to Nome without studs.
We will NOT see a repetition of 2017 and even then we managed and organized studs for everyone.
(We have a global warming backup plan for the studless riders IF things WOULD go crazy icy: we will make a change to the first 10km for everybody and give you the option to change to the 100km distance which has the least amount of snow covered gravel road base (= the places that become slippery)).

New for 2020:

Race distances 50km - 100km - 150km.
All distances start together.
The 50km distanse finishes at CP1 (we will find a way to transport riders back to Geilo).
If you register for the 150km/ 100km but only make it to CP1 we will still call you a "finisher" (an FV50 finisher). The same applies if you enter the 150km event but only ride the 100km distance. You will of course not count in any ranking or the competition itself.

We arrange a training camp prior to the race (Monday to Wednesday 20th-22nd of January. This is a course about safe and efficient winter travel where you learn and practice the essentials. More info HERE.

Looking forward to seeing you all again!
